Comprehensive Assessment

Understanding Your Child's Unique Profile

Our comprehensive assessment is a detailed and thoughtful process designed to truly understand your child’s unique sensory and developmental profile.

The assessment includes a 1–1.5 hour, one-on-one session with your child. During this time, your therapist conducts careful clinical observations and, where appropriate, completes standardised assessments. We observe areas such as sensory processing, postural control, motor coordination, motor planning, regulation, attention, and functional skills impacting daily life.

Parents and caregivers also complete a detailed questionnaire, providing valuable insight into how your child functions at home, in educational settings, and in the community. When combined with our clinical findings, this information helps us clearly identify your child’s strengths, challenges, and key areas of concern.

How the Assessment Works

1

Referral
& Booking

Your journey begins with a simple online booking or a referral from your GP, pediatrician, or school. Once you submit the online enquiry form, a member of our team will be in touch to discuss the next steps.

2

Information Gathering

To get started, we’ll send a parent questionnaire to understand your child’s sensory profile and daily life. This is followed by a clinical intake call so you know exactly what to expect and how to prepare.

3
Play-Based Assessment

The in-clinic session feels like play. We use specialized equipment and tasks to observe sensory processing, motor skills, and emotional regulation in a safe, caring environment.

4
Report & Feedback

Your assessment includes a feedback session to explain findings and set goals; a written report is optional, allowing for a more cost-effective assessment process.

Flexible Payment Option

To confirm your booking, assessment fees are required to be paid in full prior to your appointment. We understand every family’s situation is unique, so please contact welcome@insynckidsot.com if you would like to discuss an individual arrangement to help you get started with ease.

Extensive Clinical Reasoning & Individualised Planning

Following the assessment session, your therapist undertakes extensive scoring and in-depth clinical reasoning. This dedicated professional time allows us to:

  • Carefully score and interpret standardised assessments
  • Analyse clinical observations
  • Integrate parent reports and developmental history
  • Identify underlying patterns affecting participation, learning, and regulation

At In Sync, all assessments are conducted by a senior or highly experienced therapist, ensuring a high level of expertise and thoughtful analysis from the very beginning.

From this process, we develop a clear summary of findings and an individualised therapy plan. We also thoughtfully allocate your child to the most appropriate therapist within our team, supporting a strong therapeutic relationship and optimising treatment outcomes.
